The Challenge

Michelle & Richard needed more living space for their growing family and commissioned us to design a light-filled kitchen/dining space with direct access to the garden.

Our approach

The existing kitchen was converted into a utility space, allowing a new kitchen and dining space to be extended full-width to the rear of the house. Two steps connect the old and new so that the slate flooring could extend seamlessly into the garden, blurring the boundary between inside and out. The space is filled with daylight from large bi-fold doors and roof glazing.

The result

The family spend a lot of time together in this new space and its perfect for extended family gatherings during the summer months when the doors can be flung open and the seating pulled outside.
